In our third year of tradition, we attended the Woodlands Waterway Art Festival. We had a lovely little time and the kids got their hair painted. Katie loved the pink and green polka dots in her hair. Matty decided immediately after having his hair dyed that he didn’t want it blue anymore and he wanted to go home and wash it out, which sort of shortened our art festing fun. Katie’s hair took about four washings to get it all out when she finally let me try to wash it! The hair was fitting while it lasted of my two little clowns.

April Showers…

My cute girl friends in the ward had a baby shower for me and our new little one. My friend Terri made a super yummy (and beautiful!) carrot cake - I highly recommend the Lion House recipe, its amazing. When I told Jodi that they were giving me a shower she said, “You?! Did you remind them its baby number 3? You girls are the showerin’est bunch I’ve ever heard of.” With more than 10 more babies due to arrive in our ward this summer I think we’ll be having even more good excuses to get together and party.

Augghhh! I am so excited!! Tomorrow is the big delivery day. I can’t wait to meet our new little one and we are praying all goes well. The Labor and delivery people will be giving us a call at 5 am to let us know when to come in for the induction. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight, I’m do-a-jig excited right now. (Its a good thing I have such an awful memory and blocked out the events of the last two deliveries or I’d probably be more appropriately scared!) We’ll keep ya’ll updated and post as soon as there is news.

We had a family night lesson on temple work and the blessings of eternal families. We were discussing how we have ancestors waiting for us in the spirit world and Matty asked, “Do we have any ‘anbrothers’ too?”

Here’s my product review post for the year… I’ve liked our Tempur-pedic mattress since we got it a year or two. But I knew I couldn’t say it was officially the best until I put it through the ultimate challenge- comfortably sleeping a nine month pregnant body. Well, it does. I don’t even have to use extra pillows - although sometimes I use a leg pillow for added luxury. With just my little tempurpedic pillow I sleep soundly (in between hourly potty trips - of course.) The swedes have really got it figured out, except for their barebuns logo…

S’more Please!

Before the campout we made s’mores on the back patio. We got good and sticky. Matty liked his marshmallows charcoaled like dad, but without chocolate. Phil liked extra chocolate. Katie thought any combination was excellent! You have to click on that first pic to enlarge it so you can see Katie’s very concerned face when she first saw the fire. She got used to it after a minute though and about jumped right in. Phil found out that the scraps from building our fence are extremely flammable - the easiest fire he ever started, he said. Note to self, no fires near cedar fence…

Matty got to have a campout with daddy last night. He was so excited and loved playing in the tent all day before bed time. He slept like a rock on Grandpa Feltis sleeping mat, and was proud as can be to be using Great Grandpa’s sleeping roll. He said before he went to sleep “this is the best day ever!” Way to go daddy.

Friday I got to go with our young men and young women to the Houston Temple. We had an excellent turnout and it was SO awesome to see so many of our youth prepared and worthy to be there - no easy task in these crazy times. They really are a great bunch of kids. The first picture is three of my new young women who got to go to the temple for the first time. They were so excited! I loved seeing the kids all sparkly and clean and happy after doing baptisms. Afterwards we took all the kids to an all you can eat pizza place. I’m not sure how our Bishop feeds his family of seven kids- his two teenage boys downed the hugest piles of pizza I’ve ever seen! I thought I could eat a lot of pizza, but these boys were in a league of their own.

Matty loves exploring and perching on his new playset. He has climbed on every part of it that I never imagined kids climbing on. He’s getting to be a very confident climber. His favorite game is pretending its his space ship. We have had all sorts of “out of this world” adventures with him as head astronaut. Hearing him say, “Mom, can I play outside some more?” has been worth every penny we paid for it.

When We’re Helping We’re Happy!

Okay, I guess I can admit it. I am nesting. I decided the time had come to make it so our tupperware and pots and pans didn’t attack us everytime we opened the cupboards. So we moved our food storage pouches from all the kitchen cupboards so there was more room. This required a lot of effort, and luckily we had some very good helpers. Katie picked up the big pouches and put them in the laundry basket. Then Matty and Katie together would scoot the HEAVY laundry basket across the floor to the stairs. Phil would heave it up the stairs and dump it in our room. Matty would bring the empty baskets down and we’d start again. The kids were so cute helping out and stuck with the project until the end. Katie was so proud to be “schwong” enough to lift and push and Matty was excellent at sorting the pouches, reading the labels, and taking inventory.
