One year older and cuter too…

Well, they say time flies when you are having fun- we’ve had so much fun since Katie arrived, I can’t believe its been two years already. She has such a bright countenance and strong will. She finds the fun in every situation and can make all of us laugh (or cry) on demand. She is always living life to its fullest. It has been so fun to see her with baby Skyler and how she likes to feed him bottles and hold him and worries when he is sad. She is going to be such a cute big sister to the new baby. Tonight she is having her first night in a toddler bed out of the crib. She was hesitant at first, but I think she’ll love the new freedom it provides. I’m crossing my fingers that we don’t have too many adventures with her new freedom- she is a very busy girl so I am definitely taking my chances. Everyday she says and does the cutest things, and is always surprising me with her colorful personality. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings. We love you, Katie! Happy Birthday!

We are a snuggly bunch and love nothing more than to cozy up together on the couch. Little Skyler gets to enjoy the kids snuggles too, like it or not.
Katie loves to have a turn to “Hold it, baby?”

Super Katie

When Grandpa and Grandma came they also brought birthday gifts for Katie from Aunt Jennie, Aunt Jodi and Grandma. Aunt Jodi handcrafted Katie her own hero cape, with a superman signia on one side and Super K symbol on the other, which she hasn’t taken off (even to sleep) since opening the package. She’s been loving digging in the garden with her own “shubbel” and pail (thanks Aunt Jenn, one dirt lover to another!) playing with her puppy and cabbage sprout, and wearing her “Tuute!” new outfits from Grandma. Thanks for spoiling our cute Katie!

In between San Antonio and Denver adventures Grandma and Grandpa Lee planned a day layover in Houston to visit us. They weren’t here for long but we had a fabulous time. Katie snuggled with Grandma and Grandpa every chance she got and Matty met his super silly match with Grandpa Lee. We especially enjoyed Grandpa’s very dynamic super hero bedtime stories!
We love you grandma and grandpa! Thanks for stopping by!

Silly Starts at 6am

Matty always wakes up at 6 am and Katie not long after that. They both wake up happy and silly and love to make each other laugh at breakfast. I’m not always as chipper, but they help me start the day smiling. In the first pic Matty is holding his new best friend, “Baby Cheetah”. He got to create his new friend at Build-a-Bear on a special date with Mommy. He loves Baby Cheetah and takes very good care of him- even feeding him breakfast with a baby spoon and measuring cup. Matty picked out a little animal for Katie when we were on our date, a little cat that katie calls “moow”. Matty takes good care of his sister and she’s always ready to play with her big brother and try whatever he’s doing. She loves to play chase with him and every afternoon (when I’m in an exhausted heap from the days events). I perch on the couch and they chase each other around and around the living room. Katie loves to be tackled and tickled and she’s getting pretty fast. She pumps her elbows to go faster and its so funny to watch her run. She loves to be “fast” and “schwong” like her brother. They both magically run faster if they have their capes on.
When “chase time” is over they pile the couch pillows and jump off doing crazy tricks and continue until someone gets hurt, daddy comes home to wrestle them, or bedtime.

Gingerbread Man

An opening came up at Matty’s preschool in the academic class so Matty checked it out and decided to join in place of his art and science clubs. He really loves being in the “Gingerbread Class” and what’s not to love? His classroom looks like a cute gingerbread house and his teacher Miss Laura is sweet as candy. They have quite the full curriculum and do lots of paper projects and focus a lot on Math- Matty’s two favorites. The teacher said she’s had to make their math games trickier since Matty joined the class because he can figure out the answers faster than the other kids. (He definitely gets that from his daddy!) The other day I heard him say, “Bonjour Mes Ami” to his friend. I guess they are learning French too?! Since he only attends two days a week the teacher sends him home with ‘homework’ that he misses out on MWF. He loves to do his homework and is bummed if Miss Laura doesn’t send any home in his folder. He’s learned to keep it up high after last week when Katie “helped” and colored all over his work. This week he got to bring home the class puppy “Mocha” to take care of. It’s a Webkinz stuffed puppy so he feeds it online and writes about their adventures together in a journal Mocha carries in her cage. Now that’s a family pet i could handle!

We had a Happy Valentine’s Day. We made a special breakfast and had a hot dinner date with my big valentine and had a fun day celebrating with my little valentines. The first pic is of a valentine pinata Matty and Phil created together. The second I found the kids sitting cute and cuddly like this while they were watching cartoons.

Shoe Thief

Sunday morning I went into Katie’s room to wake her up for church. She was laying in her crib, already awake, admiring her feet. On those feet were Matty’s new Superman light-up shoes. She had slept in them! (Phil and I were at a church meeting the previous night and Aunt Shelly babysat. She said Katie would go to bed happily if she could wear the shoes!) It was the funniest sight, cute little her with those big ol’ shoes sticking up in the air. (I wish I would have taken a picture!!) Whenever Matty isn’t wearing his new superman shoes Katie finds them and marches around in them. He’s been a pretty good sport about letting her “borrow” his shoes, but today I think he decided enough was enough, and he’s been storing them up high and out of reach whenever he takes them off.
