Katie surprised us today when she reached out her little hand and tickled Matty’s belly and said, “Tickle, tickle, tickle”. It was so very cute! Then she tickled her own belly and laughed.

Matty went to a “Diego” themed birthday party for his friend Tyler on Friday. They were ending the days festivities by breaking a pinata. Tyler’s mom (of Chinese descent) learned the hard way that store bought pinata’s don’t come with the candy already in them. After what looked like a very fruitful swing, yet no candy emerged, Kate turned to me with a panicked face and said, “don’t they come with the candy already in them?” Luckily, she had a bag of candy on hand so we had the kids close their eyes while we dumped it in the nearly demolished pinata. One more swing did the trick. The kids didn’t mind and we sure got a good laugh out of our culturally clueless blunder.

Katie loves bananas. She can consume one in about ten seconds flat. Its truly amazing. She gets so excited about bananas that I taught her a banana dance. We sing “Go bananas! B-a-n-a-n-a-s!” and she’ll clap and shake her little shoulders. Its so funny.

This is baby Brooklyn in her new house and play room. We are so excited to have her nearby. Katie and Matty both love this sweet little girl. Phil and I had to admit after spending the day with her that she’s an even sweeter baby than ours were. She has the cutest little giggle and she sits and laughs at Matty and Katie and her animals. So cute!

Millie Bush Dog Park

Hooray, the Dobbs family is back in town! We spent the day with them Saturday at a very big dog park near their house. Argo and Naos showed their water-loving nature and jumped right into the ponds that were there. They seemed to love swimming and being with the other pups and having room to run. Brooklyn, Katie and Matt loved watching all the different dogs play. Katie met a HUGE english mastiff that left a frothy goober the entire length and width of her arm on her. Eww! I just tried to stay out of the line of fire when the dogs would shake the water off. I think they were able to sense that I was the only one on the premises who didn’t love dogs so they would come and shake off by me. We had a really fun time though and are excited to go back and let the pups play with their cousins, Remmy and Gunner.

Pardon this one, its a little crude, but welcome to my world. haha. Matty and Phil were playing and Matty said, “Ahhh! A bear is going to get us!” Phil let forth with a bit of flatulence and said, “Don’t worry my toot ‘ll scare ‘em off.” Then Matty asked, “What’s a tootle?” (He obviously didn’t notice the rumble that proceeded the comment since we’ve had to tune those out long ago!)

This is my new bench and front yard garden that Phil gave me for Mother’s Day. I am having such fun perching and watching the kids play and my flowers grow. In true Phil gifting fashion my present came a bit early so I’ve had fun wearing it in for Mother’s Day. Grandpa and Grandma got to try it out on their visit.

After daily training lessons, Naos has become a pretty good retriever. He’s a bit sick right now, but Phil’s TLC should have him healthy in no time.

The Grandparents Lee Visit Houston

For four glorious days we had Grandpa and Grandma Lee all to ourselves. We had so much fun relaxing at the house, being silly, visiting the temple, playing at parks, and running in the sprinklers. We seriously thought about keeping them and not taking them back to the airport, but they are such independent travelers they would have found their way anyway- but hopefully they had enough fun to come back soon.

Matty asked Grandpa Lee for something and forgot to say please. Grandpa replied, “What’s the magic word?” Matty thought and then guessed, “Hocus-Pocus?”
