Mattyisms - SuperDad

Matty thinks his daddy is pretty great. (He’s so right!
) Dad rates right up there with He-man and Superman. This morning Matty was reminding me of the time when dad saved the day for some people at the airport “when the elevator doors were closing and he held the doors open like this, arrrrrrruh”. Matty threw his arms open wide to demonstrate. Then he looked down at his little arm and flexed his muscle and asked, “Do you think someday I’ll be strong as dad?”

Matty was playing with his friend William. They made a “camp site” in the living room out of blankets. William said, “I love camping!” To which Matty replied, “Me Three!” William said, “Don’t you mean, ‘me too?’” and Matty said, “No, I’m not two anymore, I’m three!”

Although she doesn’t often get the ball when Matty is around she sneaked a chance to play soccer when Matty was helping his dad feed the puppies. She makes a pretty cute goalie.

On Sunday Matty was excited when I threw away a paper towel roll. He said, “We can make this into a sword! Let me get my markers and scissors!” So for the next hour or so he glued, cut, and colored these two rolls into custom swords. We’ve had some great fights and he’s very proud of the result.

Our Katie looked so cute for church on Sunday I just had to take a picture. The pony tails didn’t make it through sacrament meeting. She loves to pull them out, but they were so happy and carefree looking - so fitting for our little Katelyn.

Katie has mastered walking and loves it. She toddles all over the place and happily chases Matty and anything he throws. She seems to enjoy being upright and is working up her speed.

Matthew the Soccer Star

Matty decided that he wants to be a soccer star when he grows up. He’s been very careful to practice skills he’ll need to be the best- like being a good friend/teammate, eating his vegetables, and exercising. I wish we’d thought of this soccer star stuff sooner! He likes to use Phil’s golf practice net as the goal.

Matty drew this awesome picture of a Star Wars pod racer with his new markers. There’s fire coming out the back and the blue and yellow in the background is the sky, stars, and meteors, but he got tired of coloring. (Finally.)

Matty colored this picture of a lighthouse the other day all by himself. I thought it was really great.

Woodlands Waterway Art Festival

While Phil was at school Saturday i took the kids to the art festival along the Woodlands Waterway. The setting was just beautiful with the booths set up along the water with all the green trees all around.
It was surprisingly chilly so we didn’t stay long, but we had a good time while we were there. Matty and Katie got to help with the tile Mosaic they were creating for St. Luke’s children’s hospital, Matty got his hair painted, he took pictures of his favorite art pieces, Katie got a pink balloon, and I got to get outside, push the stroller, enjoy my kids, listen to Andean flute music, smell good food, see horrible local performers, and enjoy some great art. All in all a good festival. (We sorely missed seeing a Roland Lee booth and having family around to share a snow cone, but we take what we can get out here.)
