Since Matthew is still convinced he is Superman he is very wary of bald men (who might be Lex Luthor, his nemesis). A balding man in our ward usually shaves his entire head, but this week had let his remaining hair grow out a bit. Matty said during sacrament, “Look! He’s got pokies! He started out bald just like a little baby, but now he’s growing hair.” He looked genuinely relieved that this man could grow hair- now he knew for sure this couldn’t be his enemy.

Matty drew this today of our family. I thought it was beautiful! 
The big one is Phil, the little one is Katie. I am on the left and Matty on the right. He’s very precise about getting everyone enough fingers, and particular about hair-do’s. Today looking in the mirror he said, “Hey, my smile isn’t shaped like a U. Its more straight.” He’s very serious about art and always looking at things closely so he can draw them better.

Katie Turns One

We had a fun party for Katie on Thursday night to celebrate her first birthday. We can’t believe our baby girl is already one year old. We decided this past year has been the best of all of our lives. I think its no coincidence that our best year so far would include Katelyn, the sparkle that lights up any room.

I explained to Matty that tomorrow he would have a babysitter while I go to the “Time Out for Women” conference. He said, “You have to go to time out! You’re kidding me! What did you do wrong!”
