Matty was blocking the stairway to be pesty the other day and wasn’t going to move until Katie gave him the password. Not knowing the password, when Matty taunted, “What’s the Password?” Katie socked him in the gut and walked away. (You don’t mess with Katie, she always wins.)

Baseball!

I joke that we have our own foreign language instructor come in each day to tutor our children. Thanks to recorded episodes of ”Signing Time” our kids are learning a lot of sign language. Matty has a great memory and loves to learn new signs and teach them to me. He looks forward to each weekend when a new episode is recorded. Its super cute to see Katie do the signs too. Something about her chubby little hands and arms just makes it so cute. Tonight Matty and Daddy were out playing catch- warming up for the T-ball season that starts this week. In true Katie, rag-a-muffin, fashion she had crazy hair, muddy jeans, was now shirtless, and was marching about the yard barefoot signing and hollering, “Baseball! Baseball!” Then, my ‘delicate flower’ belched and laughed. (The only thing missing from this lovely picture was a ‘cup’ readjustment.) Matty may not have a brother, but Katie’s a pretty good substitute.

Outgoing Call

I found out today that Matty has his best buddy’s phone number memorized. (All ten digits!) I was napping with the baby when he happily bounded upstairs and announced to me that he had called Tyler and Ty’s mom was coming to pick him up to play. I was so surprised that he had called someone on his own, but even more surprised at what he said to get invited. He told me that he said to Tyler’s mom, “I’m lonely! Get me out of this dreadful place!”

Hey Barb, does this sound familiar…. “Twinkle twinkle, little sty how i wonday what you I”?  Katie seems to have the same cute little speech impedement that cousin Kayson did when he was her age. R’s are y’s. (Grandma says Kelsey does too?)It makes me laugh, especially when she asks for “moy ky-kys pweez”. (more crackers please)  Another funny thing she says that kept grandma giggling was calling Matty “Bub”. “I catch you Bub?” was gram’s favorite when Katie wanted to catch Matty at the bottom of the slide. She also varies it to Bub, Bubby, Bubba, and Bubs. “Bubby, ‘ay you??” (where are you) ”I way (wear) Bubba’s boots!!” My all time favorite to hear is “Thanks, Bub!”

april 268 Its hard to tell, but Allyson is smiling in this picture. She is so smiley - sleeping and awake. Gas induced or not, we are so glad to see her cute smiles! She has a cute little dimple that peeks out when she grins. (Can I also mention she sleeps really well at night? This baby is the Best!)

For Grandpa Lee

april 265 april 262 This post is especially for you Grandpa! Thanks for sharing your cute wifey with us this week. If we weren’t positive that she misses you and that you must be lonely without her we would kidnap (or grandma-nap) her forever. Grandma got a good chuckle when she saw Ally’s toes. Somehow little miss Allyson got toes that are all piled on each other. Hmmm… where could those have come from?!

Swimmy Suit!

april 284 april 280 Grandma Lee has taken such good care of the kids this week (and the rest of us too!). While resting with the baby inside all I hear is giggles outside from the kids having a blast with grandma. There favorite thing to do is get on their “swimmy suits” as Katie calls them and play in the water. Grandma says Katie is a new woman in the water- she loves to swim! Its been nice and hot this week, perfect for a dip. Grandma and the kids also had a picnic the other day, complete with little dishes and mini sandwiches. Unfortunately when grandma went inside to get the lemonade the pups somehow got out of their dog run and slurped up their picnic lunch in one lick. The kids were traumatized and grandma said she didn’t even think about being afraid she was so mad at those dogs for eating their picnic! (I would have loved to see grandma angry. Unfortunately I was sleeping (again) and missed all the excitement.) Grandma has such a loving way with the kids. She is able to laugh and keep things happy even when Matty is “emo” and Katie is in a tizzy. We are so glad Grandma could come play with us.

april 291 april 294 Matty is signed up for T-ball at the YMCA this spring. He and daddy went to the store this weekend and bought some gear- a bat, a mit, and three balls. The little mit for matty is so cute! Matty loves practicing with dad and has a nice arm. Daddy is an excellent coach.

And we are a Happy Family!

april 169 april 183 We are home and all is well. Baby Allyson is still sweet as can be and the kids are very loving and gentle with her. Katie likes to tell me “Baby Owie firsty- need a jigawat!” (Baby Ally is thirsty, she needs a drink a water - meaning milk.) Matty likes to babysit her and holds her so carefully when its his turn. Katie likes to “hold it baby?” but it only lasts about 15 seconds before she is ready to go play again. She has been sleeping very well at nights (knock on wood) and so Phil likes her- even if she is a newborn. :)

Introducing, Allyson Marie…
